Today is the start of “30 paintings in 30 days” from Leslie Saeta’s Blog. My theme this time is “Transportation, past and present”. This topic has so many great possibilities. For today’s painting my inspiration came from a photo I took when driving home from Patris’s Studio in Sacramento after taking a workshop with Randy Blasquez. As I was driving I saw these 3 VW Bugs lined up with the palms and pulled over and took the photo.

Last June we visited Pittock Mansion in Portland, Oregon. The view from their gardens is spectacular and a beautiful display of nature…another one of my favorite things.

Some people and some animals have a super special quality and uniqueness about them and I would say this describes ‘George’. He is a Heritage turkey belonging to my friend, Cyndi. I first met George a few weeks ago and he followed us around strutting his stuff. he was so friendly and sweet that I wanted to take him home with me. But I couldn’t so I will paint him instead and think good thoughts every time I look at his image. God makes such beautiful things.

One of my favorite things are pumpkin patches and the first showings of Autumn coming. I was driving from my office to another and spotted the orange. I am trying to move more towards the painting style that I most love, Impressionism, This little painting is edging toward it.

I am behind in my paintings so i decided to post one when I have completed one so as to ease the pressure.
I have always been fascinated with ruins, the beauty of the stones, the mystery of what happened there so long ago. I visited these beautiful ruins in Alet Des Bains, France, this June with my painting buddies. The cemetery adjacent to the ruins were equally fascinating. Who knows, maybe I will paint them at some point in time.
Thank you for viewing my art.

Another favorite thing of mine are books. A friend lent me these old French Children’s Books and they inspired me to paint them.

Sunflowers…another one of my favorite things. My brother, Mark, is one of those fortunate people who have a green thumb. He had the most beautiful and tall sunflowers this year, and this is just one of them.

One of my favorite things is models of ships, boats and other things. When I was in France in June I happened to walk by an open door and noticed this man busy at work making models of sailboats. He was so engrossed in his work he didn’t even look up or notice me. I love to see people who seem to love what they do. Someday I would love to make models….maybe that day in the very far future when I retire.

At nearly the top of my list of my favorite things are horses. I have always loved horses. I have had 4 and someday I will have one again. But in the meantime I will paint them. These beautiful horses were outside the castle at Carcassonne, France. I took a photo of them while they were resting. These are working horses and they were taking a much needed break. So beautiful.
