Day 11 of 30 paintings in 30 days – “A busy day near Carmel”

I thought I would experiment with the palette knife even though I haven’t any experience with this method of painting…hopefully I will be able to view some of Leslie Saeta’s online classes. It was fun to start but I had some trouble with the finish….again another learning experience.
Continuing with the theme of transportation I painting this from a photo that my daughter took when we were in the Carmel/Monterey area. Everybody was out enjoying the day, including the seals.
8 x 10″ oil on canvas board. $75.

Day 10 of 30 paintings in 30 days – ” Evening In Bodrum”

A few years ago I went to Bodrum, Turkey, to visit my wonderful and dear friends, Anne and Frank Tuchel, who have a vacation home there. It was a memorable trip and I was amazed at the beauty of Turkey and the friendliness and warmth of the Turkish people. I took this photo early evening while walking after having a wonderful day and dinner. I enjoyed painting it especially because it brought back dear memories. I hope to repeat them sometime, hopefully in not the too distant future.
8 X 10″ oil on canvas panel $125.

Day 9 of 30 paintings in 30 days – Vintage Ice Cream Truck

Continuing with my transportation theme I have painted a vintage ice cream truck…what’s better than to transport ice cream in a cute pink truck? I had started to do this painting doing the 50 strokes exercise but got kind of lost with my count and went way over. I may paint this again taking more time and maybe a larger size canvas….always a learning experience.
6 X 8″ oil on canvas board NFS

Day 5 of 30 paintings in 30 days – “Ready to Fly”

Auburn has a lovely little airport and this red hot plane looks ready to go. At the airport you can eat breakfast at their coffee shop and see these planes take off and land. Very picturesque and wonderful if you are lucky enough to own one of these. I did this painting fairly quickly using the exercise in which you only use 50 strokes. I went a little over but just for a few highlights. It helps me stay away from too much detail.
6 x 8″ oil on canvas board $50

Day 4 Old Truck at the Iris Farm

This old truck rests at the Horton Iris Farm in Loomis, California where I have occasionally painted. It rests in a beautiful setting. I didn’t have much time tonight so this was a quick painting. But there is always something to learn. I love old trucks….so many memories exist with this truck I am sure.

6×8″ oil on canvas board, $75.
